Lesson 1: Introduction to Tipping Point, Moby the Hero Bot and Virtual SkillsReady to start your VEX Robotics Competition (VRC) season? VRC Virtual Skills lets you play the current game and learn to score points with a virtual robot!
These VRC Virtual Skills Lessons will help you learn about scoring with different game elements. To get started, this Lesson will introduce you to the 2021-2022 VEX Robotics Competition (VRC) Tipping Point. You will see an overview of the game, Moby (the Hero Bot for this season), and VRC Virtual Skills in VEXcode V5. |
Lesson 2: Learning how to drive and turn Moby +In this Lesson, you will learn how to drive and turn Moby. You will also learn how to pick up and move a Mobile Goal into the Alliance Home Zone to score. Then, you will apply these skills to complete a mini-challenge where you pick up the blue Alliance Mobile Goal, and move the goal to the blue Alliance Home Zone to score.
Activities: 1) Pick up and score the blue Alliance Mobile Goal in the blue Alliance Home Zone Extensions: 1) Move two Mobile Goals to the Alliance Home Zone before time runs out 2) Complete the Gear Ratio Math Extension described in Lesson 2. 3) Use the Bumper Switch to determine when the goal is loaded between the forks. |
Lesson 3: Learning how to... drop Preload Rings into a Mobile Goal Base, then move the goal to an Alliance Home Zone to score.In this Lesson, you will learn how to drop Preload Rings into a Mobile Goal Base, then move the goal to an Alliance Home Zone to score. Then, you will apply these skills to complete a mini-challenge where you will score two Preload Rings in the blue Alliance Mobile Goal, and move the goal to the blue Alliance Home Zone to score.
Mini-Challenge: 1) Place the two Preload Rings into the blue Alliance Mobile Goal, then pick up the blue Alliance Mobile Goal and move it to the blue Alliance Home Zone Extensions: 1) Score a Mobile Goal with all 3 Preload Rings 2) Complete the Angle Extension Activity described in Lesson 3. 3) Use the Rotation Sensor to sense the Angle of the Fork and help with scoring Rings and Picking up Mobile Goals |
Lesson 4: Pick up and Score Rings from the Field into a Neutral Goal.
In this Lesson, you will learn how to pick up and score Rings from the Field into a Neutral Mobile Goal. You will apply these skills to complete a mini-challenge where you will start from a new location and score two Preload Rings and two Rings from the Field with the center Neutral Mobile Goal.
Mini Challenge: 1) Place the two Preload Rings into the center Neutral Mobile Goal, pick up two additional Rings from the Field and place them in the same Mobile Goal, then pick up and move the Mobile Goal to the blue Alliance Home Zone to score. Extensions: 1) Use BOTH Forks on Moby to pick up Rings and sore them with the Mobile Goals. 2) Complete the Pythagorean Theorem Math activity described in Lesson 4. 3) Use the Distance Sensor to determine when a ring is less close enough to use the fork to lift the rings (<25mm) |
Lesson 5: Driving Moby onto the balance.In this Lesson, you will learn how to drive Moby onto a Platform to balance and score. Then, you will apply these skills to complete a mini-challenge where you will first score a red Alliance Mobile Goal, then drive onto the blue Platform to balance and score more points.
Mini Challenge: Pick up and score the red Alliance Mobile Goal in the red Alliance Home Zone, then lower the Platform in the blue Alliance Home Zone, and balance Moby on top of it to score. Extensions: 1) Score as many points as you can in 30 seconds. 2) Complete the Velocity Math Activity described in Lesson 5 3) Use the Inertia Sensor to navigate turns when going for the top score. |
Lesson 6: Using the GPS SensorIn this Lesson, you will learn how to use the GPS Sensor to drive and score the Neutral Mobile Goal in the Alliance Home Zone. Then, you will apply these skills to complete a mini-challenge where you use the GPS Sensor to drive and score two Mobile Goals in the blue Alliance Home Zone.
Mini Challenge: 1) Use the GPS Sensor to score both the Neutral Mobile Goal and the blue Alliance Mobile Goal in the blue Alliance Home Zone. Extensions: 1) Use the GPS Sensor to get the highest score. 2) Complete the Maximum Score MAth activity described in Lesson 6. 3) Use the Optical Sensor to detect if a goal is near and what color it is. |
